Deep Tissue Massage Deep Tissue Massage is a massage technique that focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. It aims to release chronic patterns of tension in the body by using slower strokes and more direct deep finger pressure, following and going across the fibres of the muscles, tendons or fascia.

Deep tissue massage helps to break up and eliminate scar tissue and usually focuses on more specific areas, possibly causing some soreness during or right after the massage, usually only lasting for around 48 hours.

In deep tissue massage the primary goal is altering structure and muscle restrictions. Once accustomed to the benefits of deep tissue work, there is an increased degree of relaxation from the alleviation of pain and the lasting benefits. Overall, the purpose is to “unstick” the fibres of the muscle while releasing deeply-held patterns of tension.
